How long will the Inspection take?
CARTERS HOME INSPECTION SERVICES conducts a very thorough and
comprehensive inspection.  Our inspection will usually take 3  - 4 hours.   Some
inspections may take more or less time based upon the home's age, size, condition,
etc.
Why can't I do the Inspection myself?
Chances are that if you are very familiar with home construction, you still don't have
the knowledge, training and experience of a professional home inspector.  We are not
only familiar with all the systems of a home and how they work and need to be
maintained, but we also know what to look for to tell us if they have potential for
failure.  But, beyond the technical expertise and experience a professional inspector
brings, it is important to remember that the inspector remains an impartial third party.
If you are involved in buying or selling a house, it is impossible for you to remain
completely unemotional about the house and it could cloud your judgement.

What if the Inspection uncovers problems?
Our report will tell you the condition of the house, including needed repairs.  No
house is going to be perfect.  It is up to you to decide how many problems the
inspection uncovers might affect your decision to purchase.  If major problems are
discovered you may want to try (through your real estate agent) negotiating with the
seller to have them repaired before closing the deal.  Or maybe the seller will lower
the price or offer a more favorable contract term.  In the end the decision is yours
alone.  However, knowing about potential problems before you buy gives you the
power to negotiate and make the best decisions.  This is one of the places that a real
estate agent is of most service to you.
No.  We conduct our home inspections to the Standards of Practice and Code of
Ethics of the National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI).  To insure the highest
level of personal integrity and to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest,
We
will not make any repairs
to the defects found.  Our only purpose is to provide an
unbiased, objective third party report on the condition of the home.

Can a house ever fail a Home Inspection?
No.  A professional home inspection is an examination of the current condition of
your prospective home.  It is not an appraisal (market value of the home) or a
municipal inspection (local code compliance).  A home inspector will not pass or fail a
house but rather describe its physical condition and indicate what may need repaired
or replaced.
